“End? No. The journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.”
J.R.R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973)
WHY DID I PAINT THIS?! I JUST MADE MYSELF SAD. I CAN’T PAINT IT ANYMORE. I CANT. I’M SORRY!!!! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HELP ME COPE…..BUT IT HASN’T HELPED AT ALL.
Few moments in these films are more painful for me than Bilbo saying, “I’m sorry for everything,” because I feel like that’s everything for Bilbo, from the moment he took the Ring in Gollum’s cave, and he’s apologizing to Thorin, too, for giving the Arkenstone when it wasn’t his to give, and for giving the Ring to Frodo, knowing the appeal it had, even if he didn’t know the extent of its power. Maybe he sees how his desire for the Ring is like Thorin’s desire for the Arkenstone, and Bilbo witnessed how that desire doomed Thorin and his kin, and he does not want Frodo to be doomed in the same way, and he is terrified that he will be. He knows that Frodo will never be the same again, and he is sorry, he is so sorry.
